Kalu Waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Malshej Ghat region, dropping down over 1,200 feet in a massive multi-tiered cascade. During the monsoon, the sheer volume of water flowing down the gorge creates a spectacular fog-filled view that makes it a top attraction near Junnar and Pune.
The trek starts from Thitabi village, which is a short drive from Khireshwar. The trail winds through forest streams and muddy tracks, leading to the suspension bridge view point or the base valley. The difficulty level is easy-medium, but extreme caution must be exercised during peak monsoon when crossing streams, as water levels can rise rapidly.
The absolute best time to experience the waterfall is from July to September. During this period, the surrounding valleys turn lush green and the waterfall runs at full capacity. Always consult local guides before heading down close to the pool base.
Because there are limited facilities directly at the waterfall base, visitors choose River Side Resort and Stay in nearby Khireshwar as their accommodation base. We arrange experienced local guides to ensure your group navigates the streams safely, and serve fresh local gavran chicken thalis when you return.
