Gear Guide for Monsoon Treks

Essential Monsoon Trekking Packing List

Trekking in the Western Ghats during the monsoon is an incredible experience, but the heavy rainfall and slippery clay trails require proper preparation. Here is our checklist of essential gear to pack before heading out:

1. Footwear & Grip

Invest in high-quality trekking shoes with deep rubber lugs. Avoid normal sneakers or running shoes, as they lose traction on wet, mossy rocks and muddy trails. Carry extra pairs of quick-dry socks.

2. Water Protection

Bring a heavy-duty waterproof backpack cover and pack your clothes and electronics in double plastic bags inside your bag. A durable raincoat or poncho is essential to keep you warm and dry.

3. Safety & Navigation

Always carry a small first-aid kit, insect repellent (for jungle leeches in Aadrai), a whistle, and a waterproof headlamp. Keep an offline maps package downloaded on your phone.
